Most patients will benefit from some input after surgery, joint replacements and other major procedures especially so. Again, a specific plan will be tailored for any patient, no matter how "major" or "minor" the surgery. The need for rehab will be assessed during your inpatient stay - those patients who are only just managing before major surgery (for instance a knee replacement) may well be advised prior to surgery that a stay on a "rehab" ward may well be recommended. Once more, these are only recommendations but they are made with a weight and wealth of experince by Dr Wainwright and his colleagues.
